Hello, just installed a new Sear garage door opener. It buzzes when plugged in after about five minutes. Thanks for any advice.:(

you just replaced the old opener with the Sears one, correct? Basically a straight out swap? And you've checked all the low-voltage wiring, such as between the opener and wall switch and the light beam sensors?
Aside from the noise, does the door move normally, fully up and down? If not, pull the cord and move the door by hand. Does it move smoothly? Will it stay all the way up without falling? Move the door about halfway up. Will it stay in this position by itself or does it fall down? If the door isn't moving properly, the opener can't compensate for that, and you will need to have the door fixed first.
If the door moves fine by hand, but the opener can't move it, then check the manual. Are there shipping screws that need to be removed? Is there a chapter about troubleshooting? Check the chain, where it meets the pulley, it is properly seated? Try the troubleshooting steps in the manual first.
If none of the above applies, then my other idea, my Sears opener has two knobs to adjust the opening and closing positions of the door. Have you set these yet? Your new opener may not be the same, but there may be some settings you need to change, please check the manual. I'm wondering if the motor thinks the door needs to do down further and is trying to move the door.
Dumb idea, but I've heard of some light bulbs buzzing. Does it make the noise with the bulbs removed? Or does the buzzing stop once the lights turn off? Are you using CFL lamps in the opener? Some CFLs will make more noise when in a cold evironment, just like any other flourescent bulb. Try standard bulbs or another brand/type of bulb instead.
Hope this helps!

Chamberlin Openers have had a problem with the mother board. The Printed Circuit Board had too much lacquer applied; they will replace the board at no charge. Lacquer may not be the correct term but it is the coating on the board. Sears may have there’s made by Chamberlin
