I have a Generac 1450 with a Honda 5hp motor. Could not get pressure out of unit. Took pump off and cleaned lime and crud out of it. Noticed water and oil when I removed the pump and now have it re-installed. I need 140 ml 80w90 pump oil, according to generac site, but don't know how to put it in or check level. Anybody familiar with this operation. TX..

Pump designs vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but, generally, you should find a plastic plug on top of the pump housing to fill with oil and a plastic sight glass on the side of the pump housing to watch for the oil level to filled properly.

The pumps I've svcd are as Puey describes. You might double check the oil requirement, the ones I've dealt with were 20W, or 10W-30, NON-detergent.

I finally was able to get "tech support"? from Generac, mostly a B&S website, and double checked the oil requirement as previously stated 80w90. The tech said pour 4.7 oz (147 ml) straight down into the pump after I remove it from the motor. Did so and was able to get the pump back on with minimal loss of oil. Draining the gas today since it has been more than 1 year since last started. Tx for suggesions.
