which wire goes where?
This old house had a wiring upgrade several years ago and a switch to an outside porch light was never installed, altho the romex from another switch (for inside porch ceiling light) was stubbed through without being connected to anything. I'm a novice and would like to try connecting the installed switch to a newly-installed one, and connect the new switch to the outside light. Hope I've explained this well, and that I can get some step-by-step instructions. Thanks, in advance for any help offered~

You need to tell us all the wires you have at the switch and light boxes. Tell us where the power is, switch or light box?

Thanks for responding!
Please understand that a self-proclaimed expert (relative) has looked at this and may have changed something... although i dont think so :wall:
Power is to switch 1, and power source has 1 black wire and 1 white wire, plus ground
Power cable has 1 black wire to switch and 1 white wire, connected to fixture 1's white wire with a wire nut. Power cable's ground is grounded to the metal switch box
Switch 1 has 2 black wires ... one to power source and one to fixture 1 in ceiling, nothing to grounding screw
Switch 2 has its own box and nothing connected to it now, but 1 black, 1 white and ground are available to new fixture
Fixture 2 (outside light) has nothing connected to it now but 1 black, 1 white and ground are availableIf I failed to make any of this understandable, please let me know :)

In the switch box all the white wires should be connected together.
All the ground wires should be connected together.
The power in black wire should be connected to one screw on each switch. This is done by connecting it to two short pieces of black wire and then connecting those short black wires to the switches.
The two black wires from the fixtures connect one to each switch.
At the fixtures simply match the colours of the wires. Match green to bare.
