Hey All, we are doing a complete kitchen remodel and I will be handling the drywall. I was wondering if there is a code (we live in chicago) specifying the thickness of the drywall to be used. I was going to go with 1/2" but wanted to be sure. I've been searching our building codes for this information but so far it hasn't produced anything concrete.

Usually drywall thickness isn't a code requirement except for fire walls.
