Have used two methods in the past:
1. Attach a pulley above and use a rope and farm tractor to lift the door.
2. Use a length of heavy lumber as a pry bar under the door. Tie a safety rope along the top to keep the door from falling over. Have some blocks of wood ready to put under the door when you pry it up.
You may be able to use a come-along or a block and tackle, also. Good luck with your project.

Thank-you Ken. Although a city boy I suggested No.1 also. But my friend likes No.2 and since it's her farm we'll let the woman do as she pleases. Besides she'll have all her friends up there for Thanksgiving to help her....And a most wonderful holiday to you and your family....How a boy from Brooklyn NY got involved in this...well it's just the wonderment of the internet....Thanks again ... mark

Lift the door high enough to be above the hinge. Slide the door over the hinge. Lower the door onto the hinge. Good luck and be safe.
