Have you read the owners manual?

Tell us what you have for cables.

With basic wiring, you will take a pair of RCA (composite) cables from your sat. box audio output jacks, to your receivers/dvd players AUX IN jack.

Be sure to set your surround receiver to the AUX setting.

To get true surround, you need a fiber optic (Toslink) or digital/analog type cable.

With RCA cables, like you have, you will just have 5-channel stereo sound. For this, you just use your cables from the satellite box (AUX OUT) to your stereo receivers AUX IN. You do not need a cables coming out of the TV.

While I'm not advocating their cables, (though they are comparable to other in their price ranges), they have good information with color pictures (always a plus).

Btw, don't worry about the manual. That's just the minufacturers opinion of how things should be done. (KIDDING);)

You must have a fiber optic cable(i would go w/ monster)hook it upffrom your rcvr to your dvd player that brings you the audio to your rcvr. Then get component video cables(green, red and blue) they look like the yellow red and white but different colors. Hook those from your player to your TV that brings the video to your TV. You will not hear sound out of your TV but who wants to when you want surround that is why you have a rcvr. Pay attention which input you put the component video in and tune to that input to see your movie.

To hook up your rcvr you can use hdmi if your rcvr accepts that. If not use high quality Component cables for video and cables for audio to your rcvr.

hope that helps

Monster cables are a waste of money. You can get better quality for half the price they sell theirs at.
