I have a Paslode 16 gauge cordless straight finish nailer. It sometimes will not fire. I can unplug the battery and plug it back in and the gun will fire. What could be the problem?

Bad contact between gun and battery sounds logical to me.

Thanks for the reply. I will investigate the battery contacts.

I have a Paslode cordless framing gun that does the same thing- it will fire for a while, then cut out like it's dead. Unplug the battery, put it back in and it will work fine for a while.

I've determined that it is the battery itself- loose or something, because if you push down on it with your thumb it will work again.

Paslode gave me a replacement battery and the replacement works fine without any problems... so I assume the problem is with the way the battery is molded- maybe it has shrunk?

XSleeper, maybe you worked the gun too hard and caused the battery to shrink????

I have had battery problems before where the latch that holds the battery in was not engaging properly. I think I need to look again to see if it could be my problem this time.

Thanks!

Wirepuller38, Can't be. I don't work that hard! :coffee:

Next time your gun does that, push down on the battery with your thumb and see if it will work again. I think you are right about the latch being the problem. It's like its loose and the battery loses contact. If that's the case, they should replace your battery just like they replaced mine. (I was asking about this problem at a trade show and they just gave me a new battery no questions asked, which was really nice!)
