Hi,

I am installing two 3-way switches. One is outside the room and one is inside. The location of the two switch boxes would be right next to each other in the wall except that one would be facing the inside of the room and the other would be facing outside in the hallway. Is there a minimum distance which two 3-way switches have to be apart? The reason I ask is that the feed comes into the switch and then runs to the fixture. As a result, the wire between the two switches would be 8-12 inches long since the other switch is close. I've done some research but could not find anything saying that a very short distance between two 3-way switches is bad.

Thanks,

Marty

There is no minimum distance. It wouldn't make sense but you can put them in the same box if you wish.

*chuckles* I think I'll do that in my house just for fun. 3 gang, 4way for the same light!
