I just replaced the burner assembly motor since the old one failed. Is there any reason to have the flame adjusted? The new motor is the same RPM. Everything appears to be working properly, I just dont want the flame to be too hot where it might damage the furnace. Is there anything I should be looking at reguarding the flame color to make sure its set properly?

no Adj. should be needed as long you have a nice blue flame with some yellow tips.
Only thing will make the flame hotter if the gas pressure has been adj on the gas valve.

It would have helped if I told you it was an Oil furnace. Does the same apply?

Oh! You will NEVER get a blue flame on Oil. The burner can not be adj by eye.. You need to bring in a good oil service tech or oil dealer with testing equipment to check your fire/draft/smoke, and CO.
When was the last time you had a full oil tune up?

I just had a tune up in September, which ended up causing more problems than it solved i think. Long story short, they caused an oil leak that flooded the motor, the motor started to fail so i replaced that myself. But the big question is, would changing the motor cause any need for a retuning?

The newer burner motors with ball bearings and capacitor, defiantly change the volume and pressure of air to the flame, the burner should be set up by a tech.
