Hello

I have recently bought a 2.1 speaker system, altec lansing FX6021, and the subwoofer produces a constand low humming sound the second I connect its power cable (it is 'hidden' inside the sub) to the wall socket. It is a 2-pin cable example (http://www.cable-trader.co.uk/images/Figure%20of%208%20to%202%20pin%20euro%20mains%20power%20cable%20BLACK%201.8m.jpg) - upper one

Now is there a reason for the humming? Can it be solved (without the risk of harming the speaker system or the sound quality) is some way? What should I do in order for the humming to stop? It is pretty annoying.

Ask away any info you need to know...

There are a few more devices which are "shared" with that wall socket, where the sub power cable is connected to (the wall socket is actually a splitter which provides a few more sockets).

Stuff to try:

Is the hum there even if there's no input connected? Regardless of which wall receptacle you plug it into? If so, it could be defective.

Does the hum stop if you pull the input cable(s)? It could be a noisy source (computer or MP3 player) or a bad cable.

Are the source and speaker system plugged into the same receptacle or power strip? (They should be.)
