I just bought desk online and when it arrived I noticed it is painted black. I thought some of the wood grain would show through and match my expresso stained bedroom set. It doesn't it just looks solid and dark black. Any ideas about how I oculd 'brown it' up a bit to match my bed set?

You'll have to strip it and refinish.
