I installed a dusk to dawn outside light fixture yesterday. It turned on fine at dusk. However, a few hours later it started flashing fast. I tried turning it off for a bit and turning it back on, but it still flashed fast. It's a "Hampton Bay" light and there is no operation instructions with it. Any ideas on stopping my disco light.
Thanks, Sam

Do you have the proper type bulb installed?

I believe so, because the bulb was included with the light fixture. It's a medium base 100 watt bulb. Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

is this one is the floursecent or HID or what ??

the other thing what it can cause to this flash pretty fast is that the light reflecting back to the photocell and cause to cycle it fast.

if this is on the HID or Flourscent luminaire let us know there may few more step have to trobleshooting this.

Merci, Marc

Marc, Thanks for the reply. It's just a regular incandescent 100 watt bulb. If the problem is that the light is reflecting back to the photocell...any troubleshooting for that?
Thanks much, Sam

What kind of light is this, and where is it installed? Can the photocell be aimed or is it fixed?

It's a Hampton Bay outdoor dusk to dawn light fixture. I replaced a light fixture outside by my side door. The photocell is fixed. Any ideas to stop the fast flashing?
Thanks.

Is it a post light? A wall mounted light? Or something different?

Wall mounted light with a regular incandescent 100 watt light bulb that was included in the box with the light fixture.

I can only guess that the light is reflecting off something and causing the light to shut off. Maybe the wall? Maybe an overhang? Did you follow the mounting directions exactly, as far as spacing from any overhang? What do the directions tell you about this problem?

My problem is after a few hours from the light coming on at dusk it starts flashing reallly fast and annoying. There's no overhang or any buildings close by...just the driveway. Nothing mentioned in the mounting instructions about spacing from anything. I only have assembly instructions...there's no operation directions or any information about problems. Thanks a lot Hampton Bay...ugh! Thanks for trying to help me.

Hampton Bay=Big Orange Store=Chinese made=Probably junk (and I'm not talking about the kind that floats on the river)
I don't think that a photocell would be able to cycle that fast due to ambient light.
Sounds more like it is defective.
Return and replace.
