I am building a "locker system" for my mudroom. I am having a very hard time figuring out how to construct cubbies in the shelves without using a data blade. Is this possible?:)

You can cut the dados with a router. Use a straight edge clamped to the work as a guide to insure a straight cut. Good luck with your project.

How about if I don't have a router. Am I out of luck?

Not out of luck, but it's going to be a lot tougher job. Cut both edges of the dado with a circular saw to the proper depth and then chisel out the remaining wood.

Mitch is right. You could make several passes with your circular saw to simplify the chiseling. Good luck with your project.

why dado ?

not necessarry

hold your side cubby divider pieces in with 1/4 round molding and glue

down and dirty DIY for the rank amateur

( I would do that over circular saw and chisel )

Yeah, that sounds like a better suggestion.
