I took down a ceiling fan in the dining room and am replacing it with a small chandelier. Unfortunately, I did not pay close attention to the existing wiring. The ceiling box appears to also be a junction for the kitchen light fixture. I discovered this after taping off the wires and turning the circuit back on to that part of the house. There are three whites and three blacks (as well as the ground) in the ceiling box. One white and one black are coming from the left. The other two whites and blacks are coming from the right - Because of their location, I think they were wired to the ceiling fan. Two questions:
1. How do I hook up the junction?
2. Do I tape off one set of the white and black and only use the remaining set for the new light?

The answer to your question is that the same wires that were connected to the fan get connected to the light. Why did you undo all the other connections?

Anyway, we cannot answer your question until and unless we know the wiring at the switch.

Do you remember anything at all about the wiring at this box?

And no, you do not tape off one set of wires. That would get you nowhere.
