I have a pine dining room table that I would like to paint flat black and possibly distress some of the edges. It has deep scratches and a decorative groove around the outside top edge that I'd like to fill in before painting. It has real wide spindle legs, which would be hard to sand, so I'm not sure what to do with the legs in order to prime them for painting. What should I do to prime it and what paint and poly would work best to give it a hard finish?
