Hi all ... for a few reasons (aesthetic being a big one), we've decided to go with bamboo for our living area.

But I really don't know whether to get the 6" wide or the 3.62" wide planks. The former is almost twice the price. I've been told, though, that the gaps between boards collect dirt and the advantage of having wider planks is worth it. OTOH, I've also been told that they're more likely to warp at that width. Nobody around here has seen a 6" wide bamboo floor so we really don't know how it stacks up visually.

So, no idea on the width ... I'd love to hear some feedback if anyone has some.

Also, I was wondering if anyone had experience or comments on a brand called Premium Green Bamboo. I was looking at their 6" x 72" planks. And finally, it sounds from here that bamboo floors really need to be glued and nailed down. Does that sound about right?

Thanks! Appreciate it!

With a wider plank the seasonal gapping will show up more in a wider plank. (2% shrinkage in a 6" board is twice the shrinkage in a 3" board at the joint).

On a wood subfloor, proper nailing would be sufficient.

Good luck
