We have inherited our father's workbench, on which is an old locking bench vise that we can't figure out how to unlock. It's stamped Eliott Mfg Co., Milford, CT, and we see that it has a notched collar spring-loaded from behind that holds it locked. But how to pull that collar back so we can open the vise?
