we have been advised that mendall is a wood filler with some sort of base that allows it adhere well and remain a little flexable so we are told that it shouldnt pop out over time.

we are working on 100 year old quarter sawn white oak parquet floors.

is it possible this or some other fancy filler might succed even in some quarter inch wide gouges since atleast these are not wide plank floors?

Minwax makes an epoxy wood filler that is stronger than the wood surrounding it, and does not tend to pop out. It may take stain, but at a different rate than your floor, so you may need to test it before going hog wild with it in the gouges. Properly mixed, you have about 15 minutes working time, so have everything ready when you begin mixing the stuff.
