I have a model 113.1977 radial arm saw. My fence and table are missing. I know I can make the table a little larger than original, but what are the exact dimensions of the fence? Doesn't the blade need to rest in its full back position BEHIND the fence? Thanks, love the forum BTW, just joined today.

Yes, entire blade must be behind the fence when the blade and motor is all the way to the rear and the motor must clear the top of the fence during the cut.

Do you have the tighteners that go on the back of the top? Usually the top is one big piece... then you have a separate piece of 1x2 for a fence, then a 1x4 laid flat behind the fence which those tighteners screw against to tighten everything up.

Yes, you will have a narrow piece, about 8" wide at the back for the saw to rest over, then the fence, then your placement table. You can make it as deep as you want. Mine is only 14" wide, but 20' long, of course supported on each end with standards. I like to cut long pieces of wood in the shop, and I never cut anything more than 12 inches wide, thus the narrowness of the table. Make sure the blade rests behind the fence, you are correct. Do you still have the screw dogs to tighten up the back board against the fence?
