I am completely redoing a small kitchen that will have 17" wide sink and an 18" wide builtin dishwasher next to it. I want to use stock bigbox store if possible. Questions I have....

1) Should I buy two 18" cabinets or one 36" cabinet.
2) Is there any difference about the cabinet that takes the dishwasher? Do I just remove the cabinet doors and pop the D/W in? Even better - do they sell them without the doors?

Thanks!!!!

The dishwasher does not go into a cabinet, it is installed beside one.

Is your space between walls, or open on one side or two sides?

How wide will your sink be? a single bowl ? or dbl bowl ?

Thanks. That makes sense for the D/W I guess. It's between walls. Very limited space in a studio apt so I need to downsize everything. I will have a 20" freestanding range, an 18" dishwasher, 24" wide frig, and small 17x22 single basin sink that I guess can fit in an 18" cabinet. All the sink cabinets seem to be 36" so I'm not sure what I have to do for that.

Do you have an 18 inch diswasher? Dishwashers are normally 24 inches wide and fit under the counter. Just trying to learn. Thanks.

Yeah, purchased a Kenmore 18" dishwasher from sears. Home Depot has GE Spacesaver 18" dishwashers and also a special GE 24" under-sink dishwaher to save space. I went with the 18 rather than under sink model as it seems like an easier install.
