I'm about to have my condo insulated. I'm not certain if my current recess lighting is IC rated. Where would I find that out? Should I just remove one of the units and take it to an electrical/lighting store to find out?

And, is it easy if I've already got recessed lighting to do it myself and change out the light units if they are not IC rated?

I'm ok at doing things myself, but since buying a place, I'm learning fast how to do things on my own.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It should be labeled. Remove the bulb and look inside the can for a sticker and/or imprinted characters and numbers.

It is relatively easy to change a recessed can fixture if you want, especially if you have access from above. It's not that hard even if you don't have access from above.

Note that you don't have to have IC cans to insulate if you have some way of keeping the insulation at least 3 inches from the can. There are a number of ways to do that.
