To start, sorry for the long post.

Background:
We recently gutted one of our bathrooms and kept only the tub. The bathroom is 8 feet long and 5 feet deep. I have put in a pocket door already to maximize space. Plan is to build our own cabinetry for the bathroom.

The previous vanity was 5 feet long and 21 inches deep. The counter was 22 inches and over hung by an inch.

Here is a picture of the old vanity.

Here is the space I have to work with now.

We purchased the sink and faucets we want to use. A picture of them.

I don’t see how to make the counter less then 22 inches unless I under mount it. Id love to reduce the width of the countertop to 19 inches. We want to put in a wood countertop and in doing so, I really don’t want to under mount the sink. Any ideas?

After tiling the walls around the bathtub yesterday, my wife noticed that we have a single darker tile up. its two rows above the niche and to the right. I haven’t grouted yet and the tile is set onto cement board. How much of PIA would it be to remove? It’s not that noticeably, but it is really irritating the snot out of me...lol

Tap the offending tile in the center with a chisel and hammer just hard enough to crack it into several pieces. Pry the pieces out from the center with a screw driver or something. It should come out pretty easy if you did the work yesterday.

Wood countertops - huh?:why_this: 5' long and 19" deep will look very long and narrow but I suppose you could do it. Nothing says the fawcets have to be in the back. They could be offset to the side just enough to give you room. Ive seen this before, but not necessarily for the reasons you have. If your doing double sinks it might even look good if both fawcets face outward slighlty towards the side walls.

Tapped and cracked the tile, pulled it out and scrapped the thinset off the cement board, already have the new tile up.... Thanks!

I plan on building a 12-18 wide linnen closet along side the counter top, so that should help with it looking narrow. We want to try a wood top, going for a country look, if we dont like it, we can always cover it or replace it later.
