I am considering the dark brown Trex Contour product and would like to get user opinions on this product.
-Will this product fade after a few months just like Origins?
-Are scratches less of an issue (or less noticeable) because of the texture?
-Is it possible for the texture to flake off due to moderate pressure washing?
I haven't seen much discussion in terms of this product so anything you can offer off would be appreciated.

Some lumberyards carry free samples of the Trex decking and you can see for yourself. I was considering replacing the deckboards with a composite but after seeing how easily they can scratch, decided against it. You just need to run your fingernail hard over it and it will scratch. Think how it will look after sliding chairs and tables across the deck. When people get out of a chair, they usually slide it backwards. This will scratch or mar the finish. The home office says that the scratches will weather out. But while you are waiting and using the deck, more scratches will keep occuring.
The samples I got, have a weathered and unweathered side. But I do not know how long the weathered side was exposed to the elements. The Trex will fade into a lighter color. The Trex Contour sample which is Winchester Grey is the only one out of the four samples where the fading is most noticeable. But this may be the result of the colors. I have a Brasilia Cayenne and Burnished Amber sample that you have to look at closely to see the fading. I also have a Accents Woodland Brown sample that you need to look close to see the fading.
Its all nice looking material but I won't buy it. When I can afford it, I will look into IPE. Right now, there are no dealers in my area and hopefully this will change.

There are a lot of composites and other deckings available on the market (something like 85 or 90 total). Some scratch easier than others. If you can scratch a sample with your fingernail, keep looking for other brands. What brands you'll be looking at depends on what your local dealers stock.
