I am bulding a wall in a basement that already has existing walls that have been plastered and painted. Where the new wall joins into the existing I am obviously going to have to put plaster in this interior corner. So that means there we'll be some plaster on the existing wall and will have to be repainted. Can I just do a patch up blending paint job or do i have to repaint the entire existing wall? It was also seggested to me to simply use flexible interior caulking on the interior joins so i wouldn't have to repaint the existing wall whatsoever??? any information would be much appreciated.

Is this plaster or drywall?
The correct method for drywall would be to tape and finish the joint. Depending on the condition of the paint [and some extent lighting and angle of view] you should need to only paint the end of the original wall.
Tape and mud is superior to caulk - it will look better and less likely to fail later.
