Hello. I am newly registered and not certain what category to post this question. Does anyone have suggestions for types of garage organizers for hanging yard equipment, storage containers (we need stock in blue rubbermaid bins!), tools, etc? We are not looking to spend thousands, fine with a few hundred. I know you get what you pay. Thanks, Not So Handy.

Local big box stores may have what you need. You can also Google for garage organizers. Check out http://www.spacesavers.com/garage.html for ideas.

For price, I'd suggest buying rubbermaids hanging system for yard tools. It gives some flexiiblity and is easy to install with lots of accessories.
For a few bucks more, I really like crownwall /slotwall, it provides flexiblitly and functionality plus it protects the garage walls if they are finished. Looks good too. Home depot sells slotwall but very few accessories. Garage specialty places sell the accessories or you can buy them online. Accessories can include cabinets, shelves specialtiy hooks (golf clubs) etc.
For shelving, just buy either Closetmaid or Rubbermaids wire shelving for garages with the hang rail system. Downside to this shelving is its open so it doesn't hide your junk and it has no separation for categorizing your goods on the plus side, its cheap and strong. Its also relatively shallow as it only comes in a max of 20 inch depth but for most people, it'll do the trick. I do like wire shelving in some instances because from below you can see whats on the shelves. Plus it keeps dust and rodents from settling.
If you have a few bucks check out gargage cabinets. Even without doors they provide "separate and categorize" functionality if you want things to look good and keep organized.
