Our washer has started making squealing sounds while in the wash cycle. Are there zirc fittings on the washer that can be used to add grease to the transmission? I'm not sure of the terminology. Also is there a repair manual for the washer online. Thanks.

It sounds like this is an older Maytag? It could as simple as a loose belt or as complicated as a bad bearing or worn damper pads. Most of the time, noises show up in the spin cycle. www.applianceaid.com that has some repair info for your washer. They sell a manual, it's $25. Also, there is a series of books out called "cheap and easy appliance repair" Each volume is a different appliance type. He covers the old Maytags quite well. Maytag parts aren't cheap but often worth it- these machines are built like tanks. Let us know how you make out.
