hey all, just wanted to first say i truly appreciate all the advice you guys have given me for my kitchen :D . its all finished 'cept for corner moulding at the ends of the cabinits and toe kick. i want to cut the corner to a 45 angle to butt the two peices where they meet, but i cant seem to get it right. im using a compound miter saw
and when i go to make my cutts they come out uneven. the angle is longer on one side of the same piece. i layed it flat, flipped it on its back, neither was working. is it like crown....upeside down and backwards in the saw? i just cant seem to get it right. thanks again. Dave:confused:

Verify that your angles are set correctly on you saw.

Make absolutely sure that the moulding is held firmly in place while being cut. The moulding has a tendency to move during angle cuts.

Good luck with your project.

Is the molding at the top of your cabinets, installed like crown molding? If so, you will need to set your saw at the detents, both on angle and bevel and cut the wood sitting flat on the table, making the longer cut at the top of the molding. Let us know if that is the case.

no not like crown, but the angle where the toe kick mets the bottom floor of the cabinits. its 45, when i cut it is straight, like if i was making a picture frame. so the two peices dont mesh together. they come out slanted...or better yet the angle that they need to fit makes the straight cut slanted. hope that clears it up.......thanks

Been down that road before.
I'm not sure what type of wood your are using but if you use quarter round. The flat part of the wood is against the bottom of the cabinet and the other against the floor. Make sure when you are laying it in the Miter saw it is at the correct angle against the saw just like the cabinet. You have to tip it in the saw to get the correct angle not just lay it against the back stop.

Hope this is a good explanation but it is hard to tell someone how it is done I wish i had a visual to show you.

Best of luck.
