I want to build a permanent water slide that will hold up! Wish we had a hill by our pool- but we don't. We have an in ground 20 x 40 pool, I chose this instead of a new car, and everyone enjoys its, it's was expensive but now I want to add a water slide, We have a sliding board and they start at about 1500. I did research and found you can buy used water slides from parks starting at about an easy 20 grand!!! Ouch--- I talked to my Pool builder and asked him if anyone ever added a water slide instead of a slide, he said he's never seen it. I asked for advice on technical stuff and hopefully my brother is going to build it incorporating the pool builders advice. It's going to run about 5000 dollars!! that's not including labor as my brother builds decks for a living,so his skills will be used and his kids will be here swimming too. I weigh this against not going on vacation for the last several years and investing the $ in entertainment right here at home , also for me it's comparable to adding a deck on or some other feature. I don't spend $ on stuff like home parties or travel and other high price hobbies people have. My husband likes guns,motorcycles..For the next couple of years I'm doing nothing but making the pool total fun!! Ok my reasoning defended-here's the BIG plan- We're building a covered bridge structure over the diving board area out of pressure treated lumber with troughs built starting at 15' feet high on the inside coming out over the water in the deep end. The troughs will be inlaid with fiberglass mesh liner you can order from a auto body shop I think and sealed with a resin that is waterproof and "slideable" My Pool guy is going to run a water line from my pump to the trough that will then just circulate back into pool and filter. The goal is to hit the water at the deep end and slide stopping at the 3 ' steps!!
In case anyone's interested I built a kids wading pool for the babies who "most" of the time do not want in the big pool that starts at 3 feet deep. I built an 8 x 8 structure with pressure treated lumber ,lined it with thick padding and left over pool liner from our old liner. I built a seat onto it and next I'm going to built a barrier around entire pool as they like to "JUMP" the wall. I put only about 3" of water in it and they love it, I drain it with shop vac, and dip water out of pool to fill it as it's chlorinated, Pool guy suggested using a small pump and pumping back into pool for filtration. I bought outdoor material with fish on it for and stapled to to canopy frame I added on for shade, This pool was pricey-about 300 for everything but it should last for years to come. The babies LOVE IT.

Could you state the question in simple, brief format?

Please stop!......Ok now that I have your attention (lol) maybe I can save you alot of money and if not at least alot of time. Interfab is a company that makes some of the coolest stuff for a pool that you will ever see. They have pre-built slides that will do what you want including a slide that does a complete 360 degree turn on the way down . If this is not enough they make slide sections that you can put together to form that waterpark looking slide you want . So you don't have to fiberglass sections yourself. These homemade sections would eventully degrade due to uv rays from the sun , chemicals, etc. Their products are very high quality, no I don't work for them but I do sell their products to my customers and I've been doing this (pool work) for over 25 yrs. I work really hard at finding quality products for the simple reason that I don't want mad customers or having to go back to replace things I suggest. The slides Interfab makes are designed to have 30 gallons of water (aprox.) flowing down them per minute so you really will get that waterpark effect.Hope this helps!!
