Electric Dryer- Amana LE8517W2
Aquired with malfunction. Besides a missing dial when the timer is turned it only dries in one cycle (12o'clock position to 4 o'clock position on the dial.) Additonally the dryer seems to overdry and shrink the clothing.
I'm thinking that the timer needs replacing (part #502967) but it seems odd that part of the dial position is working/drying and the rest of the positions on the dial don't work. (or does this have to do with contacts in the timer?).
Does having a dial that is not fully functional and having a dryer that is possibly overheating/not sensing moister point towards something else such as a thermal fuse, seperate heating element, moisture sensor?

I very rarely recommend replacing a timer (they are unnecessarily replaced alot of times)
But......doesnt sound like a bad place to start;)
