Green Cleaning - Vinegar Uses

Here are two uses I did not see listed.

When I forget the laundry in the washer and it smells of mildew. I rinse in a cup of cider vinegar. This kills the smell every time and my clothes have never smelt of vinegar.

My step father often has problems with his stomach hurting and he takes a teaspoon of cider vinegar and it cures it every time.

No more buying bleach to disinfect!

Last night I discovered another use- wallpaper removal.

Sponge down the walls with a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar. Wait 3-4 minutes and the wallpaper just peeled off the walls.

I would like to know if any of you know about an experiment where you take vinegar and can add an egg or a chicken bone and in three days it turns into rubber. My grandaughter is looking for a science project and we know these two things to do with vinegar but don't know the "science" behind the actual experiment. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Soaking an egg in vinegar will make the shell rubbery. Soaking a chicken bone in vinegar will make it rubbery. The acidic vinegar (4-5% acetic acid) dissolves the calcium carbonate.
