My husband wrote down a phone number on a sheet of paper, and when he picked up the paper, you could see the number in the wood. What, if anything, can be done to remove the indentation (phone number) from the wood? There is no ink on the wood, just the imprint from him pressing down and writing. Thanks!

Assuming the wood is finished......put down a towel and apply an iron, not too hot. Keep a close eye on what is happening, too much and you have other problems. The heat and moisture should swell the wood and make things better, or you could just wait and let nature take care of it. But if the wood is that soft, you may have other problems. Need more info on the piece of furniture, and the finish.

Obviously, this is a table on which no writing should be done again without some kind of pad between the paper and the wood. Soft woods, like pine, won't hold up to a pen.
