i just installed a new whirlpool gold dishwasher. I seems that on normal cycle the water drains on the prewash and the final heated rinse ares of the cycle. during the final heated rinse the display time seems to stop for an hour or longer and i cannot hear water being agitated. Does this seem unusual or is it normal? i could not find any input by looking in the manual.

Do you have a high loop in your drain hose to prevent siphoning?

actually the drain goes below into the basment where it connects to the main line pvc. putting it through the kitchen cabinent would be hard is there any other alternatives or is this the only way to do it? if i were to get a longer drain hose and have just part of it up high would this work? how high should i go?

The drain hose needs to have a high loop approximately as high as the tub of the dishwasher to prevent siphoning. Cutting a hole in the cabinet for the drain hose to run through is not hard. You can try to extend the drain hose, but that sometimes causes draining problems.
