My mini fridge in my dorm has one compartment, and if it's set cold enough, the entire fridge will go below zero easily.
I want to have both a freezer section and a fridge section; if I create an insulated compartment inside the fridge (open to the cooling tubes at the back of the fridge), will that harm my fridge?
The cooling tubes cover the whole back of the fridge, so I wouldn't be cutting off the cooling system from the thermostat and causing my fridge to run 24/7.
Will this be bad for my fridge?
Also, I have 6" air space on either side of the fridge (It uses the outer skin of the fridge as it's radiator, it feels surprisingly hot to the touch, not fire-hazard hot but hot. Is that normal or should I go to 12" air space?
Also all my modifications will be in the form of an insert for the fridge and are 100% reversible.
