Hi, Folks: I have a Kenmore 596.79274991 refrigerator. The ice maker number is 106 626639 (I think just the 626639 is relevant).
The ice forms properly but will not dump. The fill tube was frozen so I am assuming that the supply tried to fill when the ice was stuck and thus froze in the tube.
I took out the ice maker and noticed that the teflon or other material is wearing off (I'm in CT with lots of minerals in the water) and am wondering if now the ice is getting stuck because of it.
1) Is this the problem and
2) Should I replace the entire unit or is it worth buying the mold/heater assembly? I found an entire replacement unit on ebay for $45 including shipping.

I would opt to replace the whole icemaker at that price. Either motor that dumps the ice is bad or heater isn't coming on to warm tray & release the cubes.
