There is a bad smell coming from my Kenmore dryer. I have done the following with no luck... it smell like a dead something inside the dryer drum and radiates into the house...:wall:
1) Changed the flex hose with a new one, the old one was loaded with a ton of lint.
2) Visually looked down the tin pipe to the outside of the house and there are no obstructions, the pipe is clear.
3) Took of the back of the dryer off vacumed it all over including inside the dryer pipe.
4) Removed the duct that housues the lint trap and blower fan cover, there was a ton of lint in there so I washed it out and vacumed off the blower wheel.
5) Visually looked all over in the dryer and cannot see anything dead.

Where is the smell coming from?

I'm glad I did the cleaning, what I cleaned was a fire trap I did not believe what I saw, everyone needs to do this anyway if the dryer is 2 or more years old.
Can anyone give me some insight?

thx George K.

Problem solved........

The original answer my wife gave me 2 days ago was..it smell like a rotten potato...when we first noticed and looked in the potato drawer, which there was no rotten potato.

The dryer vent exits below a low deck outside the house it is about 6" off of the ground. I removed the boards adjacent the vent and saw no dead rodents etc. :wall: I went back inside the house for the night and still could not figure out what was the smell is. I even took out the dryer out of the house and took it apart again. I left it in the garage and noticed the smell was gone. So I went back outside again and looked under the deck and noticed a potato growth on the ground. :thinker: This growth was bigg about the size of 2 baseballs so I doug it up and there was the rotten smell like a potato, I don't know what the thing is but the problem is solved:D :D
I think I will move the vent to another part of the foundation higher off the ground on another wall of the foundation for better ventilation. george k
