Doors and Windows - Right Hand door to Left Hand door

This might be a silly question - but:
During remodeling a room I encountered the problem to convert an interior RIGHT HAND DOOR to a LEFT HAND DOOR.
Is there any other way than installing a new door?

It can be done if your mortising skills are up to par. Assuming it opens the same way, you will need to mortise new hinges on the jamb and door, and fill the old ones. Filling the hole for the knob is more difficult, but can be done so it is barely noticeable if the door is painted. If finished naturally, all bets are off. Probably easier to buy a new door blank, or prehung door.

As Just Bill says it can be done as long as your mortesing skills are up to par and as well as the "finish".

Assuming your door and jambs are painted, my advice is to use Bondo to fill the holes. It adheres well, and sands smooth. Once painted, you'll never know it's there.

We are facing this same issue with two exterior doors. Because they are stained and not painted, it's new doors for us. Luckily we found one for half price - exterior grade wood doors with windows (full light) are EXPENSIVE.
