I managed to install my OTR Microwave but want to make sure I install the vent out and insulate it correctly.
the issue I'm having is that the micro-hood and vent out ducts positions mis-mtach a bit and therefore the existing vent out duct is not an exact match.
There is a gap between the duct and the mw duct (vertical outlet) which exposes the wood (cabinet base board) between the mw & the Vent out duct..
1. Is it safe to leave the wood exposed to the heat/oil fumes
2. If I insulated the area using the same UL listed metal duct tape, will it sufficiently safeguard from any accidents?
What is the best way to bridge this gap?

You can buy a short piece of metal duct that will fit it 3 1/4X 10 and cut it to what you need . Home depot and lowes have them.
