I am having trouble making a straight edge with my Delta planer joiner. I know it is probably an operator error. When I edge plane a board I always seem to take more of the leading and trailing edge that I do the middle. This results in a board that smiles at you. I replaced the blades on my Delta planer joiner and set them to what I thought was the correct height however I did seem to have the same issue with the old orginal blade setting as well.

What am I doing wrong?:wall:

Check to make sure that infeed and outfeed tables are co-planar, that is, both in the same plane. If the tables tend to slope toward the cutter, the result could be as you describe.

Are we talking about a planer or a jointer? I think you are talking jointer, since you mention an edge. The one thing you need to remember it not to press on the leading nor the trailing edge, or you will get a snipe. Maintain your pressure in the middle of the board for the entire cut. Make sure your two tables are set at a minimum difference and are perfectly parallel to each other. It is better to run the wood several times than to take off too much and chance a snipe or gouge. Hope this helped.

If the rough board edge has a crown, run with crown up. Good luck.
