i purchased a new flat ceramic counter top range to replace the existing one...I would like to change out the 240 volt plug from the old range top and attach it to the wiring from the new range top so i don't have to hardwire anything in and keep using the 240 outlet which takes the odd shaped heavy duty plug from the old range perfectly...the old range top wires were:black with solid white line, green middle line, black with printed on label as 600 volts......The new range wires are black, red, green. and lastly the three pronged plug that was attached to the old range top wiring is not color coded but i wrote which color wires from appliance went to which of the three wires on the plug...IT IS CLEAR THAT THE GREEN WIRING FROM OLD RANGE ATTACHED TO THE MIDDLE WIRE ON THE PLUG (THIS PRONG IS V SHAPED);THE BLACK W/WHITE SOLID LINE WENT TO LEFT OF GROUND(GREEN) AND THE BLACK WIRE LABELED 600 VOLTS FROM OLD RANGE ATTACHED TO THE WIRE ON RIGHT OF THE GROUND FOR THE PLUG...WOULD I BE RIGHT TO ASSUME THE NEW APPLIANCE WIRES CORRESPOND AS FOLLOWS WHEN I ATTACH THEM TO THE OLD 3PRONG PLUG: RED SAME AS OLD BLACK W/SOLID LINE; GREEN SAME AS OLD GREEN;BLACK SAME AS OLD BLACK LABELED 600 VOLT OR................RED SAME AS OLD BLACK LABELED 600 VOLT; GREEN SAME AS OLD GREEN; BLACK SAME AS OLD BLACK W/SOLID WHITE LINE? :gmorning:
