Should I spend another $150-200 for a convection oven or just get a regular version and save the money?

Absolutley spend the money!
If you like cooking you will be amazed at how they can speed up cooking time and make temperatures more even within the oven.
We have a small countertop one and it's a favorite way to cook many dishes.

We have a convection toaster oven like GregH that I use for most small dishes. It's great! I wish we could afford to buy a new stove/oven - I'd get convection.
