I'm adding insulating to the exterior of my house with 2" styrofoam followed by a 5/16" foil backed styrofoam panel (the extra step is to achieve R11 for a home energy grant).

What order should I install everything and which way should the foil side be facing? I was thinking the first layer should be the 2" styrofoam, followed by the foil-backed panels with the foil facing out. Vinyl siding will go on over top of the new insulation.

Foil should be next behind siding.
