Hydro trannys take oil. Gear trannys take grease. I use "00" grease.

If I'm reading the DOM correctly, that mower is a 2003.

I'm unable to find such a model number on my microfiche lookup so I can't tell you any specifics on the machine. Is it a standard shift or a hydrostatic drive trans? If you get me the engine numbers I can tell you the year.

Since it is a Murray mower and with a shifter tranny, it most likely has a Peerless 800 or 900-series tranny and would then use a Bentonite grease in the tranny, not an oil. First gear would be the lowest and slowest gear.
