Hello
We have exposed poplar ceiling beams that are cleaned and sealed. We now want to stain with somehting that is non toxic and a good colour. There are a lot of them can anyone suggest a good product?
Thanks
Lorraine

Since you've already sealed the wood, ordinary stains will not penetrate. You're almost forced to a gel stain, which can be wiped on in repeated coats to achieve the color depth you want.
Zar, Minwax and Cabot are all reputable brands.

What did you seal the beams with?
Applying a tinted poly like minwax's polyshades might be an option.
