I have an old dresser and some surface are badly beaten. I took care of the badly beaten part by stripping the color. My question is, the drawers are not bad so I'm planning to apply stain over it. Will it revive the richness of it or will just be the same?

Any surface that already has a finish will not accept stain well. You can stain the stripped areas and then polyurathane the entire dresser. Wiping the drawers with a wet thinner rag will give you an idea as to how it will look with poly [until the thinner evaporates :) ] Be sure all wax is removed before applying the poly.
