I just bought one of those cool curved rods for my son's bathroom, and I held it up to the shower and the darn thing is too long - about a half inch. Both walls are tiled, and it would fit (though a close one) without the tile, but it will have to be mounted on the tile. The intructions say to cut the rod if too long. I have a circular saw - but I've only used it for wood projects. Do I need a different blade to cut the rod? I know I have to be careful to maintain the same angle. Is there a special blade I need to purchase for this type of cutting? Being that this is curved, and metal, I'm wondering how to even keep the thing steady. Add to the problem that I have to mount it in tile (which means drilling into the tile) and I think I may be better off with a standard rod. :( Thoughts??

A circular saw is not the correct tool to use for cutting a shower rod.
A hack saw with a fine blade would do it.
Wrap the rod in a rag, carefully clamp it in a vice and then use light strokes to cut it.

You would need a masonry bit to carefully drill through the tile to get to the wall surface.

Go to the hardware store and buy a simple pipe cutter. 5 or 6 bucks....

My hacksaw did the trick. Much easier than I thought. Rod is up and looks great! I used a tile and glass bit...it worked like a charm.
