Our Egress Window from the basement is below the bump out for the gas fireplace in the family room. It was put there in our case because of a disconnect between the foundation people and the modular builder.
The cover for the well sits on top of it and could not be permanently hinged because it was too close to the bump out to open properly if hinged. There is about a 24" clearance between the top of the well and the bumpout which is room enough for someone to crawl out.
Is there any fire safety code that prohibits an egress window being below a bump out in the building - assuming egress is not impeded by the bumpout?
