I have 6 stairs from my kitchen to a newly ceramic tiled landing leading to my backyard. I want to put a high traffic carpet on the stairs but don't want to get a contractor, basically because I'll pay a fortune for 20 minutes of work.
Anyway, there is a carpet on a roll at the local home depot that I want. Do I just get the thing cut in widths to match the tread width, maybe a little wide to be safe?
Most importantly, what do I put it down with, obviously not tack strips?
And how can I trim one side if the carpet is a tad wide without making it look like a hack job? Straight edge and a utility knife I assume?
Thanks.
