I've got a strange sized closet in my 1915 house and I'm not sure how best to organize it.

First, the closet is off the floor about 3 feet (it's over the front staircase and that extra 3 feet provides headroom over the stairs) next, it's about 8' tall, 3' deep and 3' wide. The door doesn't go all the way up to the top, it goes up another 4' from the floor of the closet.

so i want to utilize as much space as possible, but not sure where to begin, it's to far to reach in all the way and too high to put anything up beyond reach.

Any thoughts on this project?

Thanks,
Ron

I am still drinking coffee so my idea may be a little wild:

I am thinking a cool step ladder thing here. Have one that allows you to step into the closet from the hall floor, then access the high shelves inside the closet too. Granted the doorway sounds like it's only 4 ft high, so you'd have to be pretty small to get INTO the closet... You could hang the stepladder on the inside of the door for easy access. Or maybe hang a small wooden ladder on the wall of the closet so you can climb up to reach the high shelves.
