Howdy all. We're remodeling our kitchen completely and the walls in particular we are redoing because it uses some sort of paneling for the wall rather than drywall. I'm wondering if I should replace the old fiberglass insulation while I'm at it? The house is about 43 years old. Existing insulation is Corning fiberglass, "medium 2 inch" according to some printing on the paper side. No idea what the R-value is.

I wouldn't turn down a chance to upgrade the insulation. No expert but I'd bet R-13 would be double what you have.

That's about what I'd expect considering this stuff is only 2 inches deep rather than 3 1/2. I'd also hope that after 40 years, today's stuff is a bit more effective too. Thanks for the input!
