I don't see any point in doing it now, I'd wait.

An asphalt driveway, like any other asphalt pavement, is an impervious surface. You don't want water to get under the asphalt and freeze and thus crack/heave the apshalt. So the main purpose of sealing it is to prevent water from getting through it. The only way water is going to get through it is if cracks are on the verge of forming or have already formed. Until then you don't need to seal it, unless you want to make it look blacker, or you prefer a smoother and slicker driveway LOL.

I've also always heard you were supposed to wait a year for the asphalt to cure before applying sealer. Don't know if that's a fact or not :)

Asphalt doesn't take a year to cure! That's an old wive's tale. I wonder who comes up with that crap!

Manufacturers of sealing tar and acrylic products also tell you to seal annually - of course, they want to sell their crap!
